“Fish in Lisboa”, a taste of fine dining
The best of Lisboa’s cuisine will be one of the main highlights during “Fish in Lisboa”, an event held for the first time from April 5 to 13 and expected to attract thousands of visitors to Pateo da GalĂ©, in Terreiro do Paço.
Throughout the nine days, chefs from some of the best hotels and restaurants will show their fine culinary skills, sharing their knowledge and experience with other professionals of the trade and the general public. The event is organised by Lisboa Tourism with the support of the City Council, and forms part of the Lisboa Strategic Plan, TLx10. This plan aims to stimulate tourism using Lisboa’s famous fine cuisine as an attraction. “Fish in Lisboa” will be held in three main areas: the auditorium at Lisboa Welcome Centre, where there will be presentations by guest chefs and other specialists; at GalĂ© hall chefs will give classes, do live cuisine shows, wine tasting, tasting with food specialists and debates on cuisine; and finally at Pateo da GalĂ© where there will be restaurants with tasting areas. From selection to its preparation, professionals from the world of fish will help unravel the mysteries of the delicacies of the seas, inviting the public to participate in several events. A giant fish stew, prepared live for all to see by several chefs and to be tasted by the general public, will be the highlight of the last day of “Fish in Lisboa”. Some of the best modern chefs will take part in this event, making Lisboa in April a centre for culinary exchange, where fish and seafood will reign supreme.
